6a-Led-Zepplin-4-7-77-w1200

The first concert I photographed was Led Zeppelin on April 7, 1977, from the third-row center. I was hooked. The thrill of taking photos of my favorite performers has never faded. My concert portfolio starts with images that I took of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant that day. These photos opened many doors for me early in my career and are still favorites in my portfolio.

These photos led to taking concert photos for the local record store, which led to my position as Production Manager for Pop Entertainment, the student-run concert promoter at Michigan State. For every show, I had front-row and backstage access to photograph some of the many bands that performed in the 70’s and 80’s.

I have enjoyed photographing many favorite performers and bands over the years. Performing in a variety of venues, from the largest stadium shows to a small nightclub. Here is an overview of some of the concerts that I’ve photographed over the years.

The challenge is always the same, to capture the artists at the peak of their performance, naturally lit and on stage, connecting with their audience. Where you can almost feel the excitement in the air and hear the music playing, when viewing the images…
